Sun Damage Fighters: Vitamin E


Vitamin E in the diet has many abilities that can make it an effective skin cancer preventative. A proven antioxidant, it helps prevent sun damage from free radicals, absorbs energy from  UV light, has potent anti-inflammatory effects, and improves the ability of the skin and veins to act as protective barriers. Vitamin E is best obtained from diet, as supplements may lead to side effects such as easy bruising and bleeding problems.

Rich sources of vitamin E include almonds and other nuts, sunflower seeds and other seeds, spinach, soybeans, and wheat germ.
