Sun Damage Fighters: Lycopene


The same red pigment in lycopene that helps protect the tomato against sun damage while it is growing may also help protect your skin against sun damage. A 2010 study in the British Journal of Dermatology tracked people regularly eating tomato paste against a control group of people who didn't, and found that after 10 weeks the lycopene consumers were 40% less likely to be sunburned!

This red pigmented antioxidant is found in tomatoes, watermelon, guava, papaya, apricots, pink grapefruit, blood oranges, red bell peppers, purple cabbage, mango, and carrots.
