Hyaluronic Acid--Why is this important?
Hyaluronic acid is a main moisturizing ingredient of many skin care products. It is a glycosaminoglycan, a gel-like substance naturally found in the dermis (the second layer of the skin) that provides fullness and softness. We can compare it to a down comforter. The hyaluronic acid is the down inside the comforter. Without the inside filler, a comforter cover made of fabric is easily folded and creased. If instead, the cover is neatly filled, it springs back and unfolds more easily.
Hyaluronic acid is the main component of many dermal fillers (including Juvederm, Restylane, and Belotero), but it can also be applied topically for increased skin hydration and improvement of fine lines.
I've started carrying it here at the office. It's very affordable at only $70 for a 30 ml bottle of hyaluronic acid gel that also contains vitamin B5 and peptides.
