Beautiful skin starts here.
We believe that small changes lead to natural and lasting results.
March 15, 2018
I’m writing to share some big news. As of April 15th, Gilchrist Dermatology will become a practice specializing in geriatrics and cosmetics. I realize this might be surprising, and I want to share why I made this decision and what happens next.
I’ve often described my original vision of Gilchrist Dermatology as “cottage concierge without the extra fees.” I wanted to create a space where San Diegans could receive dermatology care in a warm and unrushed setting, and I believe that we’ve been able to build this together.
Growing this practice with you over the past 6 years has been my proudest accomplishment. To witness the growth and changes of your lives and your families has been an honor. Recently, however, I’m finding my practice too busy to give all my patients all the attention they need to thrive. After much reflection, I realized the best way for me to continue to provide quality health care to our community in a way that I can sustain long term while staying true to my passion is to limit my practice.
With this 30-day notice, please make note of the following changes:
Our office hours are changing to 9 AM til 4 PM.
Our office days are changing to Monday through Thursday.
As of April 15th, we are no longer seeing any patients under the age of 55 years for medical appointments.*
All cosmetic consults and appointments are still available to patients of any age.
This is a big step that will allow Gilchrist Dermatology an opportunity to blossom into its next phase of growth while staying true to our shared core values: compassion, passion, initiative, creativity, community. While our schedule will smoothly transition over the next 30 days, you are welcome to call for prescription refills and urgent visits during that time.
*Please also note these exceptions
Any patient who is currently taking isotretinoin (Accutane) is welcome to continue with me until finished with her or his complete course of therapy.
Any patient who has an active (biopsied and diagnosed but not yet treated) diagnosis of skin cancer, I will also see through definitive treatment, regardless of the patient’s age.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your ongoing support.
Thank you for joining me on this journey and I'm excited for what lies ahead!
Heidi Gilchrist, MD
